A Halo Called Fred
For just over 20 years, A Halo Called Fred has been creating some of the best and grooviest geek rock ever played on Guitar, Bass, Tupperware, and Fiddle.
Their rollicking good time time on stage is so palpable you have to fight with yourself not to groove along with them as they spin tales of cavemen, steampunks, pirates, and, of course, various body parts & flyings things. Like ya do. The Halo has performed with King Missile and Ween, and also has been featured on “The Doctor Demento Show.”
Check out their website at ahalocalledfred.com where you can get their latest album, “We Love You All”!

The World of Wyck is pleasurably painful. Wyck mixes classic sideshow routines with his own unique humor and stunts, for vast comedic effect and what is, simply, an absolutely unique stuntman show. From fire breathing to animal traps, Wyck will keep you happily entertained, while amazing you at the same time.
Be amazed by the human pincushion! Overwhelmed by the block head! Intrigued by straight jacket escapes! And so much more! For example, below, you can see the man stick his arm in a wolf trap. Yes, a wolf trap. Really. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! I mean, seriously. Even if your home has wolf traps in it for some reason.

History of the Sword: Part 1
Presented by Professor Mark P. Donnelly. In 1884 Sir Richard Francis Burton wrote that, “... the history of the sword is the history of mankind.” This lecture/presentation examines the various types and evolution (read as process of change and not necessarily implying improvement) of swords through history. Why they are designed they way they are and the techniques which were taught for their use. Why and how they change and what other social and cultural factors they affected.

Frenchy and the Punk
Imagine Django Reinhardt, The White Stripes, Johnny Ramone, Siouxsie Sioux and Edith Piaf jamming together at an event hosted by Deepak Chopra and Toulouse Lautrec. This is what it might sound like. A sultry French-born singer, percussionist and a fiery punk rock guitarist from the golden days of the hardcore scene blended their diverse talents to form Frenchy and the Punk in 2005. The unlikely pairing has since released 6 full-length CDs, produced a live concert DVD and have performed all across the U.S. and in Europe. In May 2012, Yahoo Music called them one of the top 25 duos in the US. Their show is a carnival of two that will take you from Paris to CBGBs and back again. A rollicking flapper folk punk cabaret with cleverly crafted songs, Taiko meets Rio de Janeiro pounding drum instrumentals and true DIY attitude.

History of Pirates in NJ
Presented by Professor Mark P. Donnelly. From the earliest days of the Colonial era until the end of the Revolution, New Jersey's coastline swarmed with pirates who sailed back and forth across the Atlantic in search of plunder and rich prizes. Full of high adventure, dastardly deeds, and newly uncovered lore, this lecture features such famous characters as Capt. William Kidd and the notoriously cruel Blackbeard, as well as lesser known pirates from the Revolutionary War era who were based in Jersey. – This material is derived from my book: Pirates of New Jersey: Plunder and High Adventure on the Garden State Coastline

Scantily Clad Storytelling
Young women from all walks of life talk about their experiences in the erotic industry. All for your mind-stretching entertainment.

DJ Mighty Mike Saga keeps the party going into the late hours!
DJ Mighty Mike Saga looks 100% like someone in an old Billy Idol video, possibly the third zombie who gets zapped in “Dancing With Myself”.  But he’s amazingly passionate about one single thing: making a room full of music that’s outside of the “same twenty songs you hear at every Bar Mitzvah or wedding”, yet makes people REALLY comfortable and REALLY want to dance.

Let’s face it:  Some of us love to dance.  Some of us go to dances feeling shy and unsure, but maybe, if the music moves us, we’ll dance and have fun.   I’ve never seen anyone who can pull both kinds of people out onto the dancefloor as effortlessly, as happily, as Mighty Mike Saga.  He’s incredibly versatile; he’s famous for a kind of music which is appreciated by about 30% of Wicked Faire attendees (that’s Goth/Industrial) – but what he spins for us is actually this incredibly variety of tunes which fit beautifully into the Wicked Faire groove, yet expose you to new music, new sounds, and new beats.   I’ve seen him make 8-year-old kids dance with 70-year-old insurance adjusters and 22-year-old skater kids ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

According to his bio, a two-years-old Mighty Mike “began spinning records on a PlaySkoolstereophonic hi fi record player with an Old Radio Shack Mixer to fuse his favorite Sesame Street and Muppet songs together in harmony.”  This sounds really implausible and we don’t actually believe it, but we can totally believe that music has been this kids’ life from before he was old enough to walk.

His website is totally designed to make him look like the most Dark Dark Darkity Dark Goth/Industrial DJ ever.  Don’t let it fool you.  He’s actually a really sweet guy who plays all kinds of music.  But he also really likes to scowl in pictures.  That’s because the REAL story of when he was two years old was that he tried to imitate the aforementioned Billy Idol video, and his face stuck that way…

You can also find Mighty Mike Saga on Facebook andSoundCloud

Celebrity ARISTOCRATS Contest
It's exactly what it sounds like. If you don't know the routine, you're about to get a crash course. Be there, or be forever left out on a unique experience that WILL not happen the same way again.

" 'The Aristocrats' is a taboo-defying dirty joke that has been told by numerous stand-up comedians since the vaudeville era. Over time it has evolved from a clichéd staple of vaudevillian humor into a postmodern anti-joke. Steven Wright has likened it to a secret handshake among comedians, and it is seen as something of a game in which those who tell it try to top each other in terms of shock value. It is thought of as a badge of honor among expert comedians and is notoriously hard to perform successfully. It is rarely told the same way twice, often improvised." - Wikipedia

A part of our VIP-Only "Wicked After Dark" event, premiere comedian and convention personality Steam Funk hosts our first-ever Celebrity ARISTOCRATS joke contest!  We've invited performers, presenters, and vaudevillians of all manner to present you with their very WORST telling of this classic joke, each version guaranteed to be more shocking and offensive than the last.  Winner, as judged by applause-meter, will receive a pair of VIP Tickets to the upcoming Twisted World: Villains & Vixens festival, sponsored by our friends at Red Falcon.

*While Wicked Faire and Jeff Mach Events cannot be responsible for individual jokes as told by our guests and celebrities, we've asked that they refrain from using material that comments negatively on issues of gender-expression, in consideration of the sensibilities of some of our attendees.  In keeping a balance between respecting such issues and the desire not to censor our performers, we hope to bring our thickest skin and best sense of humor to this event and enjoy some good-natured laughs together.

Celebrity Munchausen
Join Celebrity Guests as they compete in this oft-hilarious improvisional storytelling.
“The Extraordinary Adventures Of Baron Munchausen” was described by BoardGameGeek.com as ‘This not-quite-a-role-playing-game requires players to sit around telling fantastic (but completely true!) stories. Players may attempt to trip up another player’s story by wagering a token (“But the Prussian Army had dissolved by that time, m’lord, so you could not have possibly fought it single-handedly”), whereas the storyteller must counter with another token (and an excuse) or swallow their pride and incorporate it into their story (with another excuse). There are also a few, minor details, mostly used to get boring storytellers to stop. The game is won after each player has told one story. Each player, in turn, gives *all* their tokens to another player they believe has told the best story–so collecting the most tokens doesn’t make you the winner, it makes you be able to choose the winner. Of course, the best story-telling wins the game.’

Why they are designed they way they are and the techniques which were taught for their use. Why and how they change and what other social and cultural factors they affected.

The Wandering Cellist
The Wandering Cellist (aka Mike Lunapiena) started playing and became obsessed with the cello at age 16. He would fuse this new-found obsession with the passion he had developed years earlier for heavy metal music. This has defined this unorthodox journey he’s taken.
In the years that followed, he got some classical training, started playing in rock bands, began composing his own music, began playing in the subways & freelancing in New York City. His journey would take him from popular New York City underground venues to a Progressive Rock Festival in Quebec City, to Steampunk, Sci-Fi & Gaming Conventions in the Northeastern US, and beyond.
His music fuses his classical training with his love of heavy metal, fantasy, film & folk music. Building layers of cello on top of each other, he creates a world simultaneously dark, beautiful, wonderful, fantastic & breathtaking.

Personal Finance for Geeks
A different perspective on personal finance from a geek who is not in the finance industry. Things to get you thinking about money as a tool and how our relationship changes with it over the life span. Techniques salespeople and the media use to sell and manipulate us. Some of the fallacies of Personal Finance as an industry and a discipline. How rules lawyering the tax codes and benefits are a similar skill to D&D rules lawyering. Not a sales pitch, not a lecture on spending less than you make though it helps. Program is approximately 1 hour with a 1/2 hour after for Q/A.

Matt DeBlass
Matt DeBlass, steampunk's favorite bard and the Steampunk Worlds Fair's official Chief Bow Tie Inspector, turned to the world of steampunk after being told that he couldn't wear a bow tie to perform at renaissance faires. Here, Matt found an ideal niche for his own eclectic, gleefully anachronistic collection of music. By bringing elements of world folk, Celtic, rock, classical, and 19th century parlor music into one program, he stretches the bounds of genre and period. Matt performs on a variety of acoustic instruments, including mandolin, guitar, harp and percussion instruments, some of which he has built or modified himself. When not trying to invent a new standard of parlor music, giving presentations on modifying and building instruments, or demonstrating how to tie his signature neckwear, Matt is a busy gigging musician and teaches lessons in percussion and rhythm guitar. Come see Matt perform for a chance to learn what, exactly, the man on the floor’s been drinking!

Creating Believable Steampunk Worlds
Steampunk often takes the form of alternative history, a re-imagining of what has come before, rather than a creating a completely new universe. Alternative history is fun and allows a wide array of options in telling a story but many writers fall into the trap of waving a magic wand to shape real world circumstances into unrealistic, unbelievable utopian settings in which they place their stories.Presenting alternative history, whether for fiction, a game universe or just a basis for cosplay persona, should not be an exercise in forcing your audience into a long series of leaps of faith. A good writer, game world designer or even LARP character developer can and should use some of the tools we will present to create a believable alternative history that, while changing the course of historical events and developments, does not break believable human nature. Creative Professionals Raymond Witte and Brian Thomas believe you should leave a trail in your fiction of how you got to the future you are presenting. They will demonstrate techniques you can incorporate into your work to take your back story to the next level.
